BRUSH STROKE CLINIC 2008

So many of you asked that the surface I choose for the 2008 brush stroke clinic be one where you can display all the panels at the same time.

I went to Janet at Coyote Woodworks and she designed this beautiful frame for us. It is 23.5" square with each panel being 8" square. These designs will suit a number of surfaces besides this frame and as always you are welcome to choose your own surface. You may even just basecoat some poster board for painting in class.

This seminar is designed to teach you the basic strokes and some of my unusual strokes. However, it is my opinion that having you learn the strokes within the context of a design is more beneficial than practicing rows of strokes on paper. You'll notice a little oriental influence in some of the panels, no doubt from my recent trip to Taiwan. I am looking forward to sharing this seminar with you.

JUNE 13 - 15

Water Lilies and Dragon Fly

This will be a two day project and we'll have fun learning some new techniques and unusual uses for familiar techniques. We will build everything with brush strokes of course, and then add additional flourishes with our liner, floated colour and finger painting!

Red Hibiscus

 

After my trips to Cuba and Taiwan I have so many pictures of Hibiscus from every angle. Their petals appear as fragile as tissue paper and nestled in the green leaves of the bushes the colour just jumps out. I may add a yellow one as well, we’ll just have to see where the creative urge takes me!

Floral Bouquet

Tthis painting as quite large with many different flowers, reminiscent of the Victorian bouquet, with roses as the main flowers.

 

Amaryllis

This flower, which many associate with Christmas, belongs to the lily family, with it’s typical long stem erupting at the top with beautiful flowers. Now you can enjoy yours all year long!

BUTTERFLY COLLECTION

September 15th & 16th

This piece was designed for the 2007 Colour Sense Seminar and was such a success that many who could not attend asked if I could repeat it as a project class for 2008.

I did it on Coyote Woodworks Lazy Susan #LS400. There are 8 different and very colourful butterflies in each removable section of the lazy Susan.

SEPTEMBER 26 - 28

Jacobean Design

This style of painting is from the 1700's and is quite elaborate with intertwining flowers, leaves and vines. It is always one of my favourite styles to design

Acanthus Leafy Scrolls
This project will be offered in a variety of colour schemes and is pure fantasy - yet is one of the hottest decorating motifs today.

Three Botanicals

My series of botanicals for the last two years have been almost as popular as the brush stroke clinics have been. In true botanical style, each flower will be  shown as realistically as possible. However, you know they will be done with brush strokes! I haven’t decided yet exactly what the flowers will be, but am interested in doing a group of violets in pink, violet and white. And a wild rose would also be a nice addition. Any suggestions for the third flower?

Payment will be by Visa or Mastercard. The first seminar for which you register will be deducted upon registration an additional $100.00 deposit will be charged per each additional seminar booked. Mary will process the balance for each remaining seminar one month prior to date of that seminar .

Refunds will only be given if we are able to fill your seat. However if you must cancel and we can't fill your seat, you may use the credit for any merchandise on my web site.

Reminder to our US students, Effective 2007 you will require a passport to return to the US from Canada.
