Hi painting friends,
Isn’t it strange how right after Labour Day it feels like fall? The kids and grandchildren are now off to school and life is settling into a different kind of routine. Now is the time to do something for yourself and I just wanted to point out three exceptional seminars that I am teaching this fall. |

OCTOBER 22 – 24 2010
Turtle Hollow Studio
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma USA Contact: Darla Foreman
Tel: (405) 203-0991 darla@turtlehollowartists.com http://turtlehollowartists.com
Darla is the consummate hostess, going the extra mile to make sure that our seminars at Turtle Hollow are special and memorable events. Not only is she our past SDP President but Darla is also a professional caterer - so bring your appetites!
Darla chose two of my favourite projects and both offer a wonderful framework in which to build your painting skills |

Poppy Placemat
I love the colours in this painting and the ample size of the poppies. In fact this is the design on the same table mats that I use in my own home. But it would suit so many other surfaces as well, such as a door crown or drawer front - oh I see possibilities here for re-doing my kitchen!!! |

Blue Folk Art Floral
Now this painting I have framed and it is in my downstairs powder room. I bought framed art from Homesense ( a store like TJ Max) and took out their art and put in mine.
Check out your local store as it is a very inexpensive way to frame your paintings and they also make wonderful gifts.
I would love to paint this design again on a lazy Susan or the top of small table. The blues and violets are electric and you can’t help but be happy as you paint this project. |

OCTOBER 30, 31, NOV 1 2010
Sea Strokes of Maine
Chapter of SDP
Portland Maine USA
Contact : Suzi Franklin
Tel: (207) 646-8654
email: mefpsp@yahoo.com
This is my return visit to this enthusiastic chapter, we had so much fun when I was there last.
Their members will welcome you and make you feel at home. And if you love seafood, this is the place to be!!! I remember a wonderful dinner on a boat that was transformed into a restaurant.
The chapter chose two of the most popular projects that I have ever designed. Butterfly Collection and Thistles and Bumble Bees |
Butterfly Collection
This is actually eight separate paintings. Although the picture shows this project on a turntable, I also have them framed with black mats in a black frame - very elegant.
Each painting is a different colour scheme, in fact this project was originally part of a colour theory seminar.
I am honoured that two of these butterflies are now in the SDP Permanent Art Collection.

Thistles and Bumble Bees
My son Graeme influenced this painting and if you talk to him he will take full credit for it!
The violet tones in the thistles fit in with the new designer colours shown for the fall, and who can resist those cute little bees - I can see them buzzing their way into many paintings, can’t you?
I’ve noticed silk thistles lately in our decorator stores and think I may just need to get some! |
