Dear Painting Friends

I hope that you’ve had restful holiday and are looking forward to getting back to painting.

This is the most exciting newsletter of the year because I will be showing you all the new projects I have designed for our studio seminars this year. And you will also see the projects that will be taught by our wonderful guest teachers.

But before I get to that, I have some other news I’d like to pass along.

MAUREEN’S NEW BRUSHES

I want to thank you for all the letters you’ve sent telling me how much you are enjoying our new brushes. I am thrilled with how they perform. One of their attributes that I know you will appreciate is that there is no ridge of paint when you join two wet strokes side by side. And you know that in my style of painting, we are always joining strokes together to form a petal or leaf. Isn’t it great to have all these extra sizes in the round brushes?

Here are two new styles we are adding to the line:

New #5/0 Liner: this brush is perfect for all the fine line detail I like to use when laying in highlights and shading. It has the length required to hold a reservoir of paint, with an ultra fine tip which produces the finest lines imaginable. It also makes pulling in tendrils so much easier. I know this brush will become a favourite.

New Domed Filberts: this brush is designed with a domed top which will be perfect for round flower petals, feathers, drybrushing and laying in transparent washes. It is available in sizes 4, 6, and 8.

SCOTLAND 2006

Reserve July 1-15 for your holiday with us in this spectacular country. Jim and Lewis (our coach driver) are busy organizing wonderful tours for us. This year we will focus on the east coast of Scotland with an overnight trip to the East Neuk fishing villages of Fife and the Glens. We will also take an excursion down to the Lake District of Cumbria in northern England .

I am excited to tell you that our guest teacher will be Claudia Nice. Claudia and I are both looking forward to great painting classes in Scotland and hope that once again we will be joined by our painting friends from the United Kingdom , Europe and beyond.

2005 SEMINARS

Registration opens at midnight March 1, so be sure to put up a reminder. I am a big fan of post-it notes on my computer monitor. That is when you will find the registration forms on the web site. You can register online, by phone, fax or mail.

If registering by post, the envelope must be postmarked no earlier than March 1. Those without e-mail receive their newsletters by post, and this way I know everyone has the newsletter in their hands and everyone is on the same footing.

Are you all ready now to see the seminar projects for this year? Grab a cup of tea and click on the link below. This is a sneak preview that we are giving to only those on my newsletter list. Mid February the seminars will be posted on my web site for the general public.
